Spring Break Practices:

We have practice every day this week at our normal time: Arrive by 3:50 --> Ready to Run at 4:00.  

Three Meet Weekend:

This weekend is busy for our team as we will divide and conquer going to three different meets: Dublin Distance Fiesta, Santa Rosa Field Events Jamboree, and Swenson/Werne Invitational. Check out our information page for the meets on our website.

The entries for Dublin Distance Fiesta have been submitted, so check out the page to view what events distance will be doing. Heat sheets come out on Tuesday giving us a more complete picture of what time athletes will be racing. Details for all three meets will be updated throughout the week. So if you have questions look their first as we might have updated it with the answer you were searching for.

Gaucho Relays:

Results from Gaucho Relays have been linked on our schedule page. Also, make sure to upload any photos you have from the meet to our Gaucho Relays folder on Google Drive.

After last week's newsletter we are off to a strong start for Viking Track Classic. Our dual meets are really lagging behind. If you haven't signed up for a spot, please do it right now!

Gaucho Relays:

This Saturday (3/14) is Gaucho Relays at Casa Grande HS. We are posting the latest information about it on our Gaucho Relays information page

Big Cat Invitational:

The first meet of the season is in the books and it was so fun watching our Vikings squad compete. Do you want to see how well your athlete did? We post links to the official results of our meets on our schedule page. In addition you can go to XCStats to view them, see who had PRs, and more. 

We love seeing photos and videos of our Montgomery athletes in action and hanging out... so if you have photos of our athletes please share them? You can upload them to our Big Cat Invitational folder on Google Drive. 

Picture Day and Senior Night:

Our first home meet of the season (4/1) will also be Picture Day. As soon as we receive the order forms we will distribute them to the team.

Senior Night will be on April 15th, so senior parents mark it on your calendar. More information will be emailed out to our senior parents in the weeks to come.

Big Cat Invitational:

Our first meet is here!!! This Saturday (3/7) is Big Cat Invitational at Santa Rosa High School. Check out out our Big Cat Informational Page for the latest information and details. On Thursday we will post to that page what events each athlete will be doing.

Dine & Donate:

This Thursday is our first Dine & Donate fundraiser for our program. Let your friends and family know that this is the place to eat on March 5th!

Meet Volunteer - Sign Ups:

Before we know it April will be here and we have three meets we are hosting which need volunteers. We can't do this without our parent/guardian volunteers. Please use the below links and volunteer for a spot at Viking Track Classic and at least one of the home dual meets.

  • Viking Track Classic - As we talked about during our parent/guardian meeting, this is an all hands on deck type of event. All athletes will be helping out too, but parent help is essential. Please go to Viking Track Classic SignUpGenius today and pick a volunteer slot.
  • Home Dual Meets - Our two home meets this season are on April 1 and April 15.  Click on the link to fill out the SignUpGenius form and volunteer. Please choose at least one of the home dual meets to volunteer at: April 1st vs Analy and April 15th vs Windsor. Click on the link for the dual meet you want to volunteer at and fill out the SignUpGenius form.

Dine & Donate:

Next week, March 5th , we are having a Dine & Donate at Los Tres Chiles with 20% of your purchase donated to Montgomery Track & Field. Help spread the word and let's pack Los Tres Chiles!


We also now have a second Dine & Donate on the Calendar. Tuesday, April 7th we will have one at Mary's Pizza Shack on Summerfield.

Team Handbook:

We are distributing the Team Handbook this week at practice to every athlete. Athletes and their parents/guardians will need to review it and sign it. Our first meet is in two weeks and the handbooks must be signed and returned prior to the meet. Any athlete without a returned handbook will unfortunately be unable to compete. 

Big Cat Invitational:

We are two weeks out from our first meet. If an athlete can't make it to this meet they must submit an absence notice via XCStats right away and also talk directly with either Coach Kevin or Robert.

Parent/Guardian Meeting:

Our Parent/Guardian Meeting is Tuesday, February 17th at 6:30pm. We will be meeting in Mr. LaFrance's room, Room 33.

Dine & Donate:

Thursday, March 5th we are having a Dine & Donate at Los Tres Chiles with 20% of your purchase donated to Montgomery Track & Field. If you have already Subscribed to our schedule then it will be in your calendar app, if not go to the bottom of the schedule page to add it.

Athletes, get those goal sheets turned in! We will start discussing your goals this week. The goal sheet is available to download if you need to print another copy.

Practices:

A reminder that we practice 5 days a week, Mon-Fri, rain or shine. Arrive by 3:50 and ready to run at 4:00. If an athlete is unable to make a practice they need to notify Coach Kevin and their event coach using the “Planned Absence” functionality in XCStats.

Practices:

The first day of practice is here! We practice 5 days a week, Mon-Fri, rain or shine. Arrive by 3:50 and ready to run 4:00.

For practice athletes need to wear properly fitted training (running) shoes, sweats, and shorts. They should also bring water and maybe even a post workout snack.

If an athlete is unable to make a practice they need to notify Coach Kevin and their event coach using the “Planned Absence” functionality in XCStats.

Meet Schedule:

We have finalized our meet schedule for the season. Go to our 2026 Schedule page for all of our meets. Subscribe to our calendar to add them to your mobile device and get the latest information. Directions and links at the bottom of the schedule page, just scroll to the bottom, and follow directions for what type of mobile device you own.

SportsNet & XCStats:

Online Athletic Clearance:

If you haven't gotten the athletic clearance completed, please do so right away. Go to https://mhs.srcschools.org/athletics/hsathletics for more information.

Concussion Testing (High Jumpers, Pole Vaulters, and Hurdlers):

New this year - Hurdlers also need to be concussion tested!

  • Monday, February 2nd at 3:45 in Room 80
  • Friday, February 6th at 3:45pm in Room 80

The test typically takes about 45 minutes to complete. Please arrive on time and bring your Chromebook. If you are unable to attend any of the scheduled sessions or have any questions about the testing, contact the Athletic Trainer, Melissa, as soon as possible at mwindrick@srcs.k12.ca.us. 

XCStats:

Have your athlete sign up for XCStats before the start of the season. Please have your athlete create an account and make sure they put parent/guardian contact in as well. To create an account they will need to register at https://xcstats.com/registration.php?school_id=975 using the code Vikings!25

The 2026 track season is just around the corner here at Montgomery High School. Each week we will be sending and posting a newsletter highlighting upcoming events, important announcements, and more.

SportsNet Clearance

Please make sure you get cleared for Track & Field through SportsNet prior to the first day of practice. https://mhs.srcschools.org/athletics/hsathletics 

If Track and Field is your first sport of the 2025-2026 school year you will need a sports physical for your clearance. Clearance through SportsNet must be done prior to participation in practices.

High Jumpers and Pole Vaulters

If you plan to compete in High Jump and/or Pole Vault this season then you will need an up-to-date concussion test. There are three dates you can choose from. If athletes have concussion tested for football, flag football, volleyball, basketball, wrestling, or soccer already this year, then they do not need to test for a Spring Sport. 

  • Monday, January 26th at 3:45pm in Room 80
  • Monday, February 2nd at 3:45 in Room 80
  • Friday, February 6th at 3:45pm in Room 80

First Day of Practice

A reminder that the first day of practice will be on February 9th. If you are participating in a winter sport you can not start Track and Field until your Winter season has finished. More details about the upcoming season will be coming out shortly.
